Become a Patron

CalBal Live is produced by Pacific Swing Dance Foundation (PSDF), a nonprofit corporation dedicated to preserving and spreading the cultural tradition of swing dancing.

The production budget for CalBal Live is $75,000, 80%–90% of which will go directly toward paying the artists, instructors, musicians, and staff who make it possible. Most of those folks have lost most or all of their normal earning ability due to COVID-19.

Our ultimate goal is to raise $250,000 so PSDF can fund its programs which, in turn, create opportunities for members of the swing dance community.

PSDF runs California Balboa Classic and has established the Pacific Swing Archive, which preserves historical artifacts and collects oral histories from swing dancers.

PSDF has helped make possible recent fundraisers such as Rhythm Relief and #MoveTogether by providing administrative and technical support.

PSDF is also dedicated to paying artists in the swing community to do their work. The money you contribute to PSDF directly or indirectly goes to paying these artists for their work.
